Since BMusa Iron Fe is not transferred from old leaves to young leaves, plants have to constantly take iron from the environment in which they grow. Since iron in the form of Fe²+ is used in plant metabolism, the plant takes up the Fe²+ ion or iron reduced in this way. The amount of plant-available iron in the soil solution is generally very low. Plays an important role in protein synthesis.
